- Scripture: James 2:1-13
Reflect on the devotional, and answer the questions to dive in deeper!
- Devotional: James reminds us that mercy—not favoritism—is meant to mark God’s people. God calls us to reflect His love without partiality, because He showed mercy to us without prejudice. He did not save us because of our status, our background, or our efforts, but solely because of the perfect worthiness of Jesus. Lent invites us to pause and honestly consider how easily we judge or exclude others, forgetting how freely mercy was given to us when we least deserved it. God’s law of love is not fulfilled through favoritism or harsh judgment, but through compassionate hearts that mirror His grace. As those who have received such mercy, let us walk in it with gratitude, ready and willing to extend the same mercy to others!
- Discussion Questions:
- What stood out to you in today’s passage?
- What questions do you still have?
- What is God asking you to do in response?
End your time with prayer, and ask the Lord to help you apply what you have learned today.
