- Devotional: In Luke 6:27-36, Jesus calls His followers to a kind of mercy that goes far beyond what feels natural—loving our enemies and doing good to them without expecting anything in return. He knows this is not easy, so He points us back to the heart of our Father. During Lent, we remember that God loved us long before we ever learned to love Him in return. He showed us mercy when we were still His enemies, not after we proved ourselves worthy. As we rest in His kindness, our hearts are softened, and we are empowered to respond with patience, forgiveness, and grace. Following Christ means learning to live as beloved children of a merciful Father, freely extending mercy to others—even when it costs us.
- Discussion Questions:
- What stood out to you in today’s passage?
- What questions do you still have?
- What is God asking you to do in response?
End your time with prayer, and ask the Lord to help you apply what you have learned today.
