March 16 - Monday

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your time, then read the following Scriptures.

  • Scripture: Matthew 18:21-35

Reflect on the devotional, and answer the questions to dive in deeper!

  • Devotional: In today’s passage, Jesus reminds us that forgiveness flows naturally from remembering how much we ourselves have been forgiven. The servant’s overwhelming debt reflects the weight of our sin before a holy and just God—a debt that Christ fully paid on our behalf at Calvary. When we cling to unforgiveness, we take far too small a view of our own sin and brokenness. Lent invites us to linger at the foot of the cross, where God’s grace humbles us and loosens our grip on bitterness. Forgiven there, we are set free by the Spirit to forgive others, knowing that the debt we once owed was far greater than anything anyone could ever owe to us.

  • Discussion Questions:
    1. What stood out to you in today’s passage?
    2. What questions do you still have?
    3. What is God asking you to do in response?

End your time with prayer, and ask the Lord to help you apply what you have learned today.
